ZHY carbide end mill manufacturer

Inside ZHY CNC Tools: A Look at Our 7,800 m² Cutting Tool Manufacturing Facility

August 31, 2026 By zhycnctool

For industrial buyers, evaluating a cutting tool supplier involves more than comparing a catalog or a quotation. Production equipment, inspection capability, process control and the ability to repeat an approved specification are equally important, especially for distributors, OEM projects and long-term batch purchasing.

Founded in 2005, ZHY CNC Tools has developed a 7,800 m² manufacturing facility focused on solid carbide end mills, carbide drills and customized cutting tools. Today, the factory combines CNC tool grinding, edge preparation, in-house coating, precision inspection and supporting production processes within one coordinated manufacturing system.

More Than 20 Years of Cutting Tool Manufacturing

Since its establishment in 2005, ZHY has focused on rotary carbide cutting tools for industrial machining applications.

Our main product range includes solid carbide end mills, carbide drills and drawing-based special cutting tools. End mills cover square, ball nose, corner radius, roughing, long-neck, micro-diameter and other application-specific configurations.

Rather than relying on a single universal cutter design, tool geometry and coating can be selected according to workpiece material, machining operation, hardness and required surface condition.

7,800 m² Manufacturing Facility and 58 Machines

Manufacturing capacity is built around a combination of precision CNC grinding equipment and supporting production, coating and inspection equipment.

ZHY currently operates 58 machines and supporting equipment within the manufacturing facility, including 28 Walter, ANCA and Deckel grinding machines.

Walter ANCA and Deckel CNC tool grinding machines at ZHY factory
Manufacturing Resource Quantity / Capacity
Manufacturing Facility 7,800 m²
Walter Machines 8
ANCA Machines 15
Deckel Machines 5
Other Production & Supporting Equipment 30
Total Machines & Supporting Equipment 58

Different equipment supports different production requirements. Walter machines are used for precision grinding of flutes, end teeth, radii and application-specific carbide tool profiles, while ANCA equipment supports both standard and customized cutting tool production. Deckel equipment adds flexibility for special profiles and non-standard tooling.

This combination allows ZHY to support regular standard-tool production while maintaining the flexibility needed for smaller-volume special tools and drawing-based projects.

Precision CNC Grinding: Where Tool Geometry Takes Shape

The performance of an end mill starts with its geometry.

During CNC grinding, features such as flute shape, cutting diameter, end teeth, corner radius, point geometry and special profiles are formed according to the required tool specification.

Small dimensional or geometric differences can influence chip evacuation, cutting load, surface quality and tool life. For this reason, precision grinding is not simply a production step—it is one of the key processes that determines whether an approved tool design can be reproduced consistently across future batches.

In-House Coating for Better Production Coordination

Grinding is only one part of manufacturing a finished cutting tool.

For coated carbide tools, edge preparation, tool cleaning, batch preparation, coating selection and post-coating inspection must also be coordinated with the tool geometry and intended machining material.

ZHY has in-house coating capability, allowing coating preparation and production scheduling to be integrated with the rest of the manufacturing process.

This is particularly useful when producing material-specific tools for steel, stainless steel, mold steel, hardened steel, titanium and other machining applications where coating and cutting geometry need to work together rather than being selected independently.

Precision Inspection Throughout Production

Producing a cutting tool is not complete when grinding or coating finishes.

Critical dimensions and cutting geometry need to be verified against the product specification or approved drawing before the tool is released for marking, packaging and shipment.

ZHY uses inspection equipment to check characteristics such as cutting diameter, flute geometry, end geometry, profile, radius and other dimensional requirements.

Inspection is particularly important for customized tools because the customer may require a specific profile, radius, cutting length, neck geometry or combination feature that cannot be verified only through visual inspection.

The goal is not simply to inspect one finished cutter, but to maintain the approved specification when the same tool is ordered again.

From Carbide Blank to Finished Cutting Tool

A finished carbide cutting tool passes through several coordinated production stages.、

Step Production Stage Main Purpose
01 Tool Requirement Review Confirm tool type, dimensions, workpiece material and machining requirements
02 Carbide Blank Preparation Prepare the carbide blank according to the required tool size and application
03 CNC Tool Grinding Produce flutes, end teeth, radii and required cutting geometry
04 Geometry Inspection Verify critical tool dimensions and profiles
05 Edge Preparation & Coating Prepare the cutting edge and apply the specified coating process
06 Final Inspection & Packaging Complete final dimensional, appearance, marking and packaging verification

For a standard product, this process supports repeatable batch manufacturing. For a custom cutter, additional drawing review, application analysis, prototype production and tool approval may be required before regular batch production begins.

Standard Tools and Drawing-Based Custom Manufacturing

Not every machining requirement can be solved with a catalog end mill.

Deep cavities, special component profiles, unusual diameters, restricted tool clearance or combined machining features may require a cutter with customized dimensions or geometry.

ZHY supports drawing-based tool development according to component features, workpiece material and machining conditions. Customization can include diameter, cutting length, neck geometry, flute structure, cutting profile, coating and other application-specific requirements.

For more complex applications, customers can provide a component drawing, existing tool drawing or sample together with machining information. ZHY can then review whether a standard tool, modified standard design or fully customized solution is more appropriate.

OEM and Private-Label Support for Cutting Tool Brands

For distributors and cutting tool brands, the manufacturing requirement often extends beyond the cutter itself.

ZHY can support customer logo laser marking, customer model numbers, labels, barcode stickers and private-label packaging for suitable OEM projects.

This allows distributors and private-label brands to coordinate product specifications and branding requirements with the same manufacturing supplier.

For repeat orders, approved drawings and confirmed tool specifications provide the basis for subsequent batch production, helping maintain consistency between the original sample and future supply.

Why Manufacturing Capability Matters to B2B Buyers

A larger equipment list alone does not guarantee the right cutting tool for every application. What matters is how grinding, coating, inspection and production management work together.

For industrial buyers, a coordinated manufacturing system can provide several practical advantages:

  • Standard tools and custom tools can be handled within the same supplier relationship.
  • Tool geometry can be reviewed according to the actual workpiece and machining operation.
  • Critical dimensions can be inspected against specifications or approved drawings.
  • Coating requirements can be coordinated with tool geometry and application.
  • OEM marking and private-label packaging can be incorporated into batch production.
  • Approved custom specifications can be maintained for repeat orders.

These capabilities are especially relevant for distributors, CNC machining companies and industrial manufacturers that require more than a one-time tool purchase.
